The popular mobile game “Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku” is getting an anime film adaptation, titled “Gekijouban Project Sekai: Kowareta Sekai to Utaenai Miku” (Project Sekai: The Broken World and the Unsingable Miku). The film is set to release on January 17, 2025.
What is Project Sekai?
“Project Sekai” is a rhythm and adventure game developed by Sega and Colorful Palette, featuring the virtual singer Hatsune Miku. The game was released in 2020 for iOS and Android devices and has gained a large following worldwide. The game’s story takes place in a world where music is the central theme, and players can explore the city of Shibuya and a mysterious space called Sekai.
The Anime Film
The anime film will feature a completely original story that is not part of the game’s storyline. The film will follow the story of Miku, who meets the characters from the game and grows as a character. The film’s director is Hiroshi Hata, who has worked on anime series such as “Lapis Re:LiGHTs“. The script is written by Yoko Mieno, who has worked on anime series such as “Uma Musume Pretty Derby Season 2“.
