The description in the anime’s announcement video provides the story in English as follows::

A typical day at Dōmori Elementary is often disrupted by strange phenomena, usually targeting one of Nūbē’s students. Nūbē springs into action, frequently using the power of the Demon’s Hand to resolve the issue. Sometimes, he employs other spiritual weapons or resolves the situation by reasoning with or appeasing the threatening entity. By the end, normalcy is restored, and Nūbē and his students typically learn something from the experience. The series generally follows an episodic format, emphasizing character-driven action over an overarching storyline. However, it includes several recurring antagonists and some longer story arcs toward the series’ end.

What seems like an ordinary day at Dōmori Elementary is often interrupted by strange occurrences, usually involving one of Nūbē’s students. Nūbē steps in to handle the situation, often relying on the power of his Demon’s Hand, though sometimes he uses other spiritual tools or even finds a way to communicate with or calm the entity. In the end, things always return to normal, and Nūbē and his students learn something from the experience. Most episodes follow this format, focusing on character-driven stories instead of a continuous plot, though there are some recurring villains and longer story arcs as the series progresses.

Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube (地獄先生ぬ〜べ〜, Jigoku Sensei Nūbē) is a Japanese manga series written by Shō Makura and illustrated by Takeshi Okano. It was published in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 1993 to May 1999, with the chapters compiled into 31 tankōbon volumes. The story centers around Meisuke Nueno, also known as Nūbē, who is the homeroom teacher for Class 5–3 at Dōmori Elementary. Besides teaching, he is a skilled exorcist who protects the town of Dōmori from supernatural threats, using the power of a demon sealed in his left hand, known as the Demon’s Hand. The series was adapted into a 49-episode anime by Toei Animation, which aired on TV Asahi from April 1996 to August 1997. Three movies and three original video animation (OVA) episodes were released. A new anime adaptation of Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube is scheduled to premiere in 2025.
